Short Description

"Why can't a woman be more like a man?" The cultural background, history and evolution of the reversed, mixed, confused and confusing gender types which have been one of the signatures of anime and manga from its origins to today.

Details

Speakers will address the influence of the gender tropes established by the "God of Manga" Osamu Tezuka, author first girl's manga Princess Knight, then the evolution of Shoujo and Jousei manga in contrast with Shounen and Seinen, and finally the history of the "boys love" genres, Shounen Ai and Yaoi.
