The Dance and the Dawn

Roleplay event run by Warren Tusk (tusk at post dot harvard dot edu)

Time

Friday, March 19 beginning at 7:00 PM and running until 12 am

Location

Lowell Lecture Hall (Guide to Locations)

Short Description

A gothic fairy tale in LARP form, full of beautiful ballgowns, treacherous intrigue, and True Love. This game has been filled, and will no longer be accepting signups.

Details

Six sad and beautiful Ladies who have lost their hearts live on the mysterious Isle of Ash, wards of a melancholy Duke.

Now they have been invited for one night of dancing at the even-more-mysterious Isle of Ice, ruled over by a cruel Queen and her haughty son, and home to six handsome Lords whose hearts have frozen over.

It is a proposition laden with danger, with sorrow and humiliation and fear; the Lords of Ice are terrible, the Prince of Ice more terrible yet, and the Queen of Ice most terrible of all. But each Lady has chosen to accept, for she knows in her heart of hearts that somewhere in that fearful assembly she will find her true love. And at this point, that hope is worth any danger.

For their part, the Lords are more complex than they seem, and perhaps even the Prince's icy heart may be melted...

Special Requirements

This game requires exactly 13 players and 2 NPCs. No more, no fewer. This game has been filled, and will no longer be accepting signups. If we fill up, latecomers will be turned away; if it doesn't look like we're going to have enough, we will cancel the event. If we're *almost* full, we'll accept last-minute signups, but it's much much better for people to be matched up carefully with characters.

Therefore, for multiple reasons, it's a good idea to sign up in advance. Please do.

When you sign up, please do indicate whether you want to be a Lord or a Lady. (There is absolutely no trouble with female Lords; male Ladies are somewhat more difficult, but can be accomodated.)

Also: dressing up isn't actually a requirement, but every person who does adds quite a lot of beauty and flavor to the game (and when everyone does, the effect is absolutely amazing).
Men, and women playing Lords, should wear either modern formal wear or (ideally) 1700s-looking formal wear.
Women playing Ladies should wear formal dresses.
Think Utena, if that helps.
